We charge a commission on ticket sales, set per event and agreed when the event is approved. It is deducted from what we pay you, together with GST on it at 18%; we issue you a tax invoice for the commission and its GST when your payout is sent. Separately, we add a platform fee to the buyer’s total at checkout; that fee is our revenue, is paid by the buyer, and is never part of your payout.
GST on a ticket is the seller’s tax, and you are the seller. Where you are registered under GST, it applies to every ticket priced above ₹500 per person, and to tickets at ₹500 or less per person unless your event is a music, comedy, arts, sports or nightlife event. You choose per ticket type whether your price includes GST or has it added at checkout. If the price includes GST, that tax is taken out of the ticket price first — your payout and our commission are worked out on what is left, not on the full price. We collect that GST from the buyer on your behalf and pass it to you. We also issue the tax invoice for each ticket sale on your behalf — in your legal name, under your GSTIN, in a numbered series of your own — and give you a monthly statement of them in your business details. Accounting for that GST and filing your returns are your responsibility, not ours.
Where you are not registered under GST, no GST is charged on your tickets at any price: the buyer pays the ticket price plus our platform fee. That is only allowed while your turnover is below the GST registration limit, so you confirm it in your business details when you answer the GST question and again at the start of each financial year. If your ticket sales on Shindigs in a financial year reach ₹20 lakh, we pause them until you add your GST registration.
Payouts are made to the bank account you gave us, after the event has taken place, less commission and less any refunds, chargebacks and adjustments. We may hold a payout where an event is under dispute, where refunds are outstanding, where we are waiting on information from you, or where we reasonably suspect fraud.
Refunds and chargebacks come out of your money. If your event is cancelled after you have been paid, or a buyer successfully disputes a payment, you owe us the amount refunded and we may set it off against future payouts or recover it directly.
